ive played the drums for a few years now and decided to get a guitar, ive been playing that for a few weeks. i want to know How To Play Guitar and bass though, should i learn them the same time or w8 till im better at guitar then try out bass?

Question by Barnabus Pseusonym: Can you Learn To Play Guitar and sing at the same time?
Everything I try to sing (ha!) and play guitar at the same time I either mess up the guitar which I can usually play perfectly or sing the song to the tune of the guitar.

It’s OK with like Iron Man by Black Sabbath as the guitar is the same tune and rhythm as the tune of the song.

Can you learn and how?

sure u can learn, but i dont know how. just look at the beatles. they ALL played an instrument and sang, and the guitar rythym was different from the song (most of the time)

Question by all_for.an_alibi: how can i learn guitar in a fairly short amount of time?
im a bigger guy so my fingers arent exactly the smallest and i try to learn but i just seem to touch more than one string on accident and it messes me all up. is there anyway i can still play? id love to learn and if possible be playing a full song in about 3 months for a gathering im going to. please help me out. if you need to see the song tablature just look up “self-conclusion” by the spill canvas and let me know if its even an accomplishable goal. thank you.

I played both rhythm guitar and bass in my day. It’s easier to sing while playing guitar, just chords, because you’re mostly just strumming in rhythm with the music. When you play a bass you’re playing one note at a time and it takes a little more thought–which string, which fret, etc.

But then it depends on how you’re playing the bass. If you’re playing a complicated bass line, then it’s nearly impossible to sing, but it’s easier if you’re just playing C,C,G,G,C,C,G,G, as bassists sometimes do.
