Q&A: Is Lead guitar easier to learn than rhythm?

Question by GymClassHero: Is Lead guitar easier to learn than rhythm?
Hi, i’m really determined to learn lead guitar, but im completely clueless in where to start. I can’t afford lessons and would prefer the satisfaction of learning it myself, are there any tips and advice you could give me? Is lead easier to learn than rhythm? And will it help if i watch other guitarists play on youtube, then copy their finger movements?

Lead and rythem are just styles putting the music together. If you can play guitar than you can play either. Practice is the answer you are looking for.

How long does it take to learn rhythm guitar?

Question by mindkill: How long does it take to learn rhythm guitar?
I just bought an Acoustic Guitar, and I am wondering, if I practice for 30-45 minutes a day, how long it will take roughly before I can actually play songs vs my currently taking 20 seconds to get my fingers in the C-chord position, then another 20 to move to A.

I know it depends on the person’s musical ability and natural talent and stuff, I am just curious to see how long it took other people who have learned guitar.

Today we will learn our first chord, A Major, and a basic strum pattern. You might be surprised to hear that there are songs that use only one chord! While guitar players may differ on the “most correct” way to finger and strum any one chord, you’ll get the most out of this course by following my suggestions and recommendations. Don’t be confused by the white lines on the outer edges of my guitar–it may look like an additional string in certain camera angles. Also, it’s normal for your fingers to hurt at the beginning. This will go away with practice, but that is also why it is important to keep our practice sessions short for now. Let’s start making music!
