It just frustrates me how recently loads of people seem to be trying to learn the guitar because its “cool”
I started teaching myself because I knew I could do it with my musical background and ability and now I have advanced greatly
But all these people trying to play taylor swift or whatever, and actually doing wrong chords anyways
Its just like SHUT UP. They can’t even do anything other than basic chords (yawn)

Calm down. I don’t think people should learn the guitar just to be cool but if they really want to learn it then they’ll be able to do it with practice. Having a musical background may help you in some ways, for example your parents can help you with music if they are musicians but having a musical background doesn’t automatically turn you into Robert Johnson or Jimi Hendrix as soon as you pick up a guitar.

And in my opinion rhythm guitar, or as you called it “basic chords (yawn)” requires more skill than lead guitar. I can pick up my sisters guitar and play a solo but if I try to play chords it sounds awful.

And so what if they like Taylor Swift.

Youtube.com is a great source for learining guitar
For chords and such go to Echords.com – it’ll show you your favorite song, how to play it, the finger positions of each chord and a sound bite so you know what it’s suppose to sound like.

Question by BOOMER SOONER FAN!!!: Has anybody else who started playing Guitar Hero got inspired to play the real thing?
I started playing guitar hero 5 months ago I didn’t master the game but got pretty good to wear I could play most songs on expert

Then a week ago I started playing a real guitar and after a good week of pracitce I can now play the main riff in Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns N’ Roses

Just wondering if that is good progress or is that slow

Well, I would need to hear you playing that riff, but if you really can play it without mistakes that it’s quite good for a beginner.

Maybe the time spent with GH gave a bit of dexterity to your fingers. Otherwise, GH and guitar have nothing in common.

I was reading Eric Clapton’s bio on wiki and it said -

“Clapton received an acoustic Hoyer guitar, made in Germany, for his 13th birthday, but found learning the steel-stringed instrument very difficult and nearly gave up…”

Eric Clapton, to me, is one of the best guitarists in rock. It’s crazy to think what music would be without him.Just a little inspiration.

Question by beka.hayes: How do you start to learn guitar? Do you start by trying to do songs slowly? Or something else?
Im learning by myself, Just by a guitar tabs poster and listening to songs, I can’t afford lessons. Should I try a different way, and I don’t know one thing about the guitar. I’ve had it for like 4 years and just picked it up for litteraly the first time. What should I begin with, and then what’s next?

go to a family owned music store and ask them for software. Lessons are the best, though

P.S : I read somewere that a guitar hero SG controller from Guitar hero 1 , will work on guitar hero 2.

You can use the controller from guitar hero 1 on any of the guitar hero games, I have used mine on world tour. Some people even play with the regular ps2 controller.

Other than the controller and the game you will need fast fingers, and of course a ps2.

You could possibly play the fifth. Such as if one person plays a C the other should play a G. I have never really tried it. The thing I would try is that one person plays the chords and the other solos over top of it.
