IF I TAKE Guitar LESSONS at my community college, how long’d it take me to get to a level to play Cover songs?

Question by bo3z: IF I TAKE Guitar Lessons at my community college, how long’d it take me to get to a level to play Cover songs?
I want to play all the cover songs like:
You’re still the one By Shania Twain
Amber By 311
Wake me up when september ends by Greenday
,etc etc,..
If I start this year, how many years would it take me to get to such level? I’m 25 and I only know basic guitar and I can only play one string at a time no double picking or anything.

I’ve been playing guitar since I was 9, and by the time I was 11 I could play basic rock songs with ease. What genres of music are you playing? rock is fairly easy. Jazz is difficult. Country is easy. Classical is EXTREMELY difficult. A college student could probably learn a few covers in 6-8 months. Feel free to ask me anything.
