try to learn by ear cheat every now and then and google some tabs but if you learn mainly by ear you become a better player at the end of the day

i would charge you 20 bucks an hour

Hello there,

If you are serious about learning, you will take lessons. If you don’t have time for lessons, how do you think you will have time to practice. The lesson is generally a half hour every week or every two weeks. You will have to put in a couple hours, at least, of practice every day for the lessons. If you go it alone, you will have to put in much more time. Sounds to me you don’t want to learn badly enough to put in the effort required to learn.

Question by MightyMan50: Can’t afford Guitar Lessons. Whats the next alternative?
I have been teaching myself guitar, and have learned many chords, but want to know where to go from here. You would think to go get guitar lessons to progress, but unfortunately, I don’t have hundreds of dollars lying around to go out and blow off on lessons. Whats the next alternative? A book maybe?

YOUTUBE– there are some brilliant people on there, and you have no time limit for learning either. I’m currently teaching myself via youtube, and its going very well.
