    It’s important to remember that you can’t just lay your index finger of your right hand down on the higher fret. You *must* pluck behind it with your thumb or it will not sound. Some people forget that somehow.

    that is when you have the open string. so when you have the open string it only works on those frets. when you hold down a note on a fret you go 12 frets above and do a harmonic there
