You should buy an epiphone sg or les paul and then get the gibson pick ups installed. It sounds rockin!

First off, I would go used. If you’re looking for a pretty looking guitar you might want to go new but the price is up to double. I don’t mind a little bit of wear and tear on my gear, it gives the impression that it’s been somewhere.

Guitars are one of the few consumer products out where brand is a the main factor. If you’re looking for a quality instrument, you can’t go wrong with Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, and PRS (Paul Reed Smith) guitars. I’m not familiar with the exchange rate of Euros to US Dollars, but you can buy a pretty nice Fender Strat new for around $500-$600.

This is a link to your price range. You’ll find plenty to choose from. I OWN a Jackson Dinky…GREAT guitar…nice feeling neck, hot sounding pickups, floating tremolo for incredible vibes, locking strings, and built with high quality. I also own an american fender strat which you see Fender here too. You cant get a real Gibson SG for this price range, but I like the one posters idea of getting and Epiphone, and just having Gibson pickups installed. I don’t personally recommend buying used UNLESS you absolutely know what your looking for. Do you know how to look down the neck to know it isn’t warped? (for if it is it is WORTHLESS!) Do you know if the pickups are any good? Or just the basic value? For I had a friend one time trade and acoustic TAYLOR guitar in for a DEAN (YUK!!!) EVEN! I hate the local music store that did that and have told this story to all musicians in my area since (for last 9 years…I hope it hurt them!) SO…be careful, for newbies or inexperience can get ripped off VERY easily. Always price compare at any of the main internet stores…ie: http://www.musicansfriend.com http://www.music123.com http://www.zzounds.com http://www.americanmusicsupply.com etc. Good luck!
